Alumni in Houston: Cold Weather Get-together

Extremely low temperatures did not keep a handful of Webb alumni and current students from gathering on February 9th  at Ichibon Japanese restaurant in the Greenspoint section of Houston, down the street from the American Bureau of Shipping.

Tom Wheaton, Adam Van Doren and Tony Urbanelli hosted the dinner, with two of the three Webb interns in Houston this year — David Donatelli and Kyle Manis — in attendance.  (Unfortunately Richard Kim, the third Webb intern in Houston this winter, was not able to attend.)  David and Kyle are working for ABS, and Richard is working for SeaRiver Maritime, an ExxonMobil subsidiary.

The dinner  was cut short due to the weather, but the attendees enjoyed good conversation about the current and past state of affairs at Webb and student life, and much talk about plans for the future.

The Webb alumni in Houston have been very busy planning future events.

On March 19th approximately 10 alumni will be touring the battleship Texas.  This event is being organized by Tom Gillette ’52, a docent at the museum.   On May 3rd, a few alumni will make a presentation to the visiting juniors about career opportunities in the offshore business.  In the fall, the SNAME and Webb Alumni Association annual meeting will be in Houston.
