116th Commencement Exercise

"Cast off, set sail and bon voyage..."

Webb Institute hosted its 116th commencement exercise on Saturday, June 16 overlooking the Long Island Sound. Twenty worthy young adults from the Class of 2012 were granted bachelor of science degrees in naval architecture and marine engineering, and Dr. Stephen M. Payne returned to Webb to deliver the commencement address. During his speech Dr. Payne, chief designer of the Queen Mary 2, told the graduates that their degrees will be held in very high regard and that they should not be “put off by setbacks. Go back to the drawing board and think about how you can make things better." He ended by saying, "Cast off, set sail and bon voyage [but] most of all: Enjoy your career to the fullest."
