Houston Region 2013 Winter Work Dinner

Three Houston-region alumni hosted a dinner on February 26 for three Webb students there for Winter Work, as well as the owner of the ship and offshore naval architecture firm company which had hired one of them.

A pleasant evening was had by all, discussing work experiences, theses, travels, and a few "sea stories" from Tom and Scott.

Students included Bryce Bartling '13, who worked at Sea River Tankers with alumni Peter Weber and Peter Bryn; David Smith ' 14, who worked at Alan C. McClure Associates-Inc.; and Chris Licato '15, who had just returned from his fall semester at University of Southampton as part of the exchange program.

Alumni in attendance were Peter Lee, '10, who works in the floating systems offshore group at Technip, Richard Kim, '11, who works at GVA / KBR doing semi-submersible design, and Tom Koster, '67, FPSO consultant to Cobalt, an independent energy company.

Our special guest was Scott McClure of Alan C. McClure Associates-Inc, a Texas A&M College Station ocean engineering grad and friend of Webb who is happy to have Webb winter work term students at his company. Scott is very active on the SNAME scholarship committee, and he reminded attendees not to forget the SNAME graduate studies scholarships when they are ready for grad school.
