Livingston Library Receives Conservation Grant
The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) of Philadelphia has awarded Webb Institute a grant in the form of a National Endowment for the Humanities Preservation Needs Assessment. Thanks are due to Jay Carson ‘73 for his efforts in preparing the grant application. CCAHA will send a conservator to appraise the condition of the library collections, historic objects and fine art; and to advise on matters of preservation, care, environmental and security issues. The collection of the Webb Archives includes lines drawings of Webb’s ships, William Webb’s correspondence, ships’ logs and rare books. This assessment will aid us in planning for conservation of the collection and will be a supporting document in the seeking of other grants.
