Scholarships Offered by Webb Institute

Webb has been successful in insuring the admission and continuation of education for all students in financial need, as long as all academic requirements are met. Students needing additional funds to meet the necessary expenses are requested to consult the Director of Financial Aid prior to the start of each academic year. Internal Scholarships are available to students who have completed a FAFSA and meet all academic and financial eligibility requirements.

These scholarships are offered annually:

Class of 1956 Scholarship - Student must have proven financial need.

Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to students in their junior or senior year. Maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

R. Peaslee DuMont ’32 Scholarship – Must be in satisfactory academic standing. Preference will be given to undergraduate students.

FIRST Robotics - Awarded to freshmen who have participated in their high school’s FIRST robotics program.

Fisher Maritime/Dunderberg Scholarship- Awarded to students in their freshman year. Must have proven financial need.

Glosten Scholarship - Must have proven financial need and maintain satisfactory academic standing.

John J. Hopkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund - Preference is given to students in their sophomore year, with proven financial need maintain satisfactory academic standing.

Kurz Family Scholarship - Awarded to students entering their junior or senior year. Must have proven financial need, demonstrating satisfactory academic progress and have maintained satisfactory academic standing.

J. Lance Class of 1980 - Must be of good character and citizenship. Preference is given to students in their sophomore year, with proven financial need maintaining satisfactory academic standing.

League Scholarship - Essay contest open to entire freshmen class. Completed during the first week of the fall semester.

McMullen Family Foundation Scholarship - Awarded to students in their senior year. Must have proven financial need, maintaining satisfactory academic standing.

Olsen Family Scholarship - provides financial support to a Webb freshman or sophomore who demonstrates satisfactory academic performance and financial need.

Corky Sautkulis Scholarship Fund - Open to students who reside on Long Island or the tri-state area with proven financial need.

Women’s Propeller Club - Awarded to students in their sophomore or Junior year maintaining a solid B average and having financial need.

 

Tuition Scholarships offered at Webb Institute:

H. Smith McKann ’38 Family Scholar Fund - Must have proven financial need, and maintain satisfactory academic standing. Mr. McKann’s extraordinarily generous estate gift of 2005 provides full tuition support to Webb as well as a student stipend to a Webb sophomore to cover a portion of room and board costs. 

Dr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Zeien ’52 Student Scholar Endowment - The scholarship was first awarded in 2014, and provides full tuition support to Webb and a student stipend to a Webb sophomore, helping to offset a portion of room and board costs during the student’s remaining three years at Webb.  Zeien Scholars are awarded on the basis of scholarship, citizenship and leadership.

Philip J. Sims ’71 Memorial Scholar - This legacy gift will enable Webb to provide a full tuition scholarship and a stipend to cover a portion of the student’s room and board expenses. 

Allen N. '36 and Cordella M. Hoyt Scholar – The scholarship is awarded to students with strong academic standing and good leadership qualities.  It provides full tuition support to Webb and a stipend to cover a portion of the student’s room and board expenses.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Scholar – Awarded to students with exceptional GPA, class rank, and leadership ability.  ABS corporate philanthropic commitments cover Webb’s full cost of tuition and provide a stipend to cover a portion of the student’s room and board expenses. 

Herman D. Pollock Family Foundation Scholarship – The Herman D. Pollock Family Foundation was established in 2014 to support organizations that best benefit the maritime world in U.S. coastal communities.  The Foundation’s extraordinarily generous 2014 gift covers one-half tuition cost and provides a stipend to cover a portion of the student’s room and board expenses. 

Philip Faurot '51 Scholarship – Lewis V. Luckenbach One-Quarter Tuition Scholarships - The Philip Faurot ’51 Scholarship was established and awarded in 2014 as a result of Mr. Faurot’s gift.  His generosity will enables Webb to provide a one-qaurter tuition scholarship and a stipend to cover a portion of the student’s room and board expenses.
