The Cornell Fall Open

By Doug Zangre '13, Sailing Team Captain

Saturday morning brought a fresh breeze to the waters of Cayuga Lake.  James Codega and Mike LaRose sailed skillfully for the first two A-division races.  However, by the time Wesley “Snipes” Yland and Marc Smith reached the water for B-division, mother nature changed her mind and decided there would be no more wind.  Two B races were completed in very light wind conditions to wrap up Day 1.

Sunday was another light-wind day at Cornell, but Webb rose to the challenge.  They tacked on the headers, rode the puffs, and did all kinds of other great sailing things.  In the first races of their respective college sailing careers, freshmen Casey Brown and Cody Stansky impressed the world with a 3rd and 2nd place finish in B-fleet.

Webb closed the regatta in 4th place out of 16 teams, a splendid achievement.
