Webb’s Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering, Dr. John C. Daidola, P.E. was selected to author the Chapter on ship acquisition and production for a soon to be published major work on marine subjects.

The Encyclopedia of Marine and Offshore Engineering is intended as a major reference work covering the design, construction and operation of ships, offshore installations and other marine structures used for transportation, exploration and the exploitation of ocean-based resources including oil, gas and renewable energy. It will embrace all of the disciplines of engineering and naval architecture that are found in the complementary marine and offshore industries. The Encyclopedia will comprise approximately 6 volumes and 350 chapters, and is planned to be published in the near future.

The full editorial team and contributing authors have been drawn worldwide from renowned engineers, scientists and practitioners in both the academic and industrial sectors.

Dr. Daidola’s Chapter covers the Design Process, Ship Design Phases, the role of Classification Societies, Supplier Relationships, Contracts and Specifications, Construction Methodology, Shipyard Layout, Tests and Trials, as well as Commissioning and Delivery.
